Hai is one of our newest students at New Beginnings! At around two years old, his parents discovered he was having hearing problems and took him to the hospital. The doctors concluded that he was profoundly deaf and recommended a cochlear implant. However, the family was not able to afford one. The schools nearby did not accept Hai after the 1st grade. He has stayed at home ever since. He is a very shy and timid boy. He struggled to make friends and, when coming to New Beginnings, did not know how to speak or sign.
